At QETLabs, we use the quantum nature of light to generate absolute random numbers. By splitting a beam of light into two, and then counting how many photons go in one direction and how many go the other, we can generate random digits. These numbers can then be used in scientific simulations, coordination in computer networks, cryptography, and quantum communications experiments. Alternatively, you can let these absolutely random numbers make decisions for you!

When pairs or groups of particles cannot be described independently of each other, even when separated by large distances, they are described as “entangled”. Click the entangled button on the left and bump your phones to replicate this odd behaviour.
